Before FlipTop, GI was already a well-known battle emcee in the Cebu-based league Rapollo. He joined the 2018 Process of Illumination in Visayas and become one of the special picks. His debut match took place at Gubat 7, facing Munchito in a Bisaya battle. He won via unanimous decision. Since then, GI has been entertaining the crowd with his witty sense of humor, clever angles, and sharp delivery. He also remains active in various underground leagues in his hometown.
